I’m on Lesson Four, Plot and sub-plot identification. Problem with this is you begin to see the real story, the way you wanted to write it – sub plots, undercurrents, the secrets each character carriers – all the things you left out – the things you added that have nothing to do with the plot or anything else. (Fortunately, I don’t have much of a problem with that kind of extraneous babble.)
Plot identification, of course, is the point of the lesson, and new ideas and reminders of original ideas are crowding into my head like a herd of turtles. So, I make note of them and keeping moving forward through the chapters. This revision gig is definitely NOT for the faint of heart.
